Guys and Dolls Audition News

EMT are delighted to announce details of our production team, and auditions for Guys and Dolls, which will be staged at the King’s Theatre from 2-5th May 2018.

Production Team

The production will be directed by Ian Hammond Brown (dir. Fiddler on the Roof, EMT, April 2017; composer/lyricist ‘Carnegie – the Musical’ and ‘Whisky Galore – a Musical!’), and choreographed by Bekki Wallace (chor. The Producers, EMT, March 2016; teacher at MGA Academy and Dance Base),  while musical direction will be provided by Matthew Brown (RCS; Scottish Opera; Citizen’s Theatre; MD on productions such as ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Hairy Mclary and Friends’ UK and abroad) and Simon Lowe (‘Follies’ revival West End, first national tour of ’42nd Street’, currently teaching at Loretto School).

Welcome Night and Auditions

We will kick things off with a Welcome Night on Thursday 12th October from 7:30pm – 10:30pm at Tabernacle Church, 41-42 Inverleith Row, Ferry Road, EH3 5PR. It will be a chance to meet EMTers, meet our creative team and hear about their vision for the show, be part of some work-shopping, and learn an audition song. We will round off the night by hosting small-group auditions for entry into the chorus, where you’ll sing the song you just learnt.

The next audition sessions will be Wednesday 25th October and Wednesday 1st November. These will be 7-10pm and will be at usual home, Barclay Church, 1 Wright’s Houses, EH10 4HN. The 25th will start with small group auditions for any chorus-only applicants that couldn’t make the welcome night. It will then move on to individual slots for anyone who wishes to audition for principal/supporting roles.
Wednesday 1st November may involve more solo slots, as well as principal call-backs.

If you plan to audition with us (or even if you’re interested in joining us backstage) please complete this short audition form/expression of interest before the Welcome Night.

At the welcome night we will be teaching the song for chorus auditions, and we will also play through the songs applicable for principal auditions. We will have sheet music, dialogue extracts and character notes to take away on the night, and we will put the music and dialogue extracts online after the welcome night too.

Please be aware that we have a minimum entry age of 16. If you need any more information about what to expect if you join the company, you can find it on our website’s Joining Us page.

EMT are really looking forward to meeting some new faces and welcoming them to the EMT family, and welcoming back old friends.
